Lyrics & Poems
Away to you
The moon is rising between the trees
and I am waiting for fireflies
They don’t come to this cold terrain
But oh, this waiting it never dies…
There’s hardly a moment when I’m true
So I just call to you
Again again, again again….
In the morning the truck slows down
to see the changes in summer leaves and
the magpies tell me I ought to stay
but my heart’s already gone away to you
Again again again again….
I danced like you told me to
and saw how my heart belongs to you -
I crossed the river with nothing left,
and saw how the sky is always something new -
Again again, again again again again again again…
The Fawn
She is gone
Like a flower fallen
beneath this rainbow light
of the early dawn
The fawn bows her head
and though her life is calling
she can’t move a bone
as though she too is dead.
Chorus:
And if you relate to the world
as though the last thing left
is where you’ll be tomorrow
you have lost her for sure
And if you sigh the sigh
of rainbows falling
you’re calling her home…
She is gone
and though her eyes have parted
her heart remains
beneath this rumblin’ started
Oh so long
you’ve heard the lonely calling
leaving their dreams a fallin’
upon her bed
Chorus:
And in the dawn
she rises in the morning
the rainbow light that’s falling
upon her head
And the fawn
though she can’t move a bone
she sings to her own
of peace and dread…
She is gone, she is gone, she is gone…
How many have to wait
How many have to wait
for a sign
that their heart break is over
so tired of loneliness?
One little girl
thinking it’s time to confess:
‘I’m not good enough for the sunshine in the morning’ she says
and the angels are tickled
but they know she can’t hear their response
they are too far away…
How many have to wait
for their heart, so tough,
to completely break?
He drove through the desert
to see her there
in her tattered clothes
did she even care
for his longing and dreams?
He wanted her to be his wife
so he reached inside
the cold cold heart
and she screamed in pain
for she couldn’t actually feel
anything
How many have to wait?
If I could see how many there were,
my heart would surely break…
How many have to wait
for their heart, so tough,
to completely break…
False Trust
My family is gone
I have watched them become
a naked flock
perched on individual
stark and drastic
ledges
hovering over vast cliffs and seas
Busy in their
respective nests,
tethered
by old old
ropes
that keep my wings bound.
I cut the old
frayed and abraisive rope
slack with false trust
and watched them fall
into the abyss.

Black Tar
I get angry
I hate
I want to destroy
These things lie within me
and make me who I am
These dark pools
afire
hot like tar ready to be laid
do not have mercy
on me
They do not obey
my voice
But I respect them
Yes, I do.
I respect them.
You see,
They -
the dark pools
like tar ready to be laid -
They do
not
lie.
